My Story

Thomas Dulfer (1993) Finished his master at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Bram van Sambeek, where he graduated with a 1.1 (9,5/10). In May 2018 he graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague where he finished his bachelor with a 10/10 with distinction: He succeeds in covering the full musical spectrum and shows his unique qualities as a performer and received a medal for the best final exam of the year.

In addition to his bassoon studies, Thomas also completed a master's degree in Cardiovascular Research at the Vrije Universiteit. In 2023 his duo Dulfer & Witteveen, was finalist of Dutch Classical Talent, touring the 15 major venues in the Netherlands with their multi-disciplinary debut performance, "You Only Live Once." In August 2019, Thomas was the Young Artist in Residence of the Music Summer of the National Youth Orchestras Netherlands (NJON). He realized 4 music programs consisting of a solo program called Palpitations, a Saloon night program, a concert featuring Gubaidulina’s works for bassoon (Thomas meets Gubaidulina), and the multidisciplinary show “Bluebeard” where music, acting, dance, and acrobatics came together.
Additionally, Thomas has won several prizes in competitions, including the first prize in the regional final of the Prinses Christina Concours. He has also won the Classic Young Master Award, which consisted of a two-year mentoring program.

Thomas is active as a soloist, in chamber music, and as a substitute with ensembles such as the Ballet Orchestra, Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Asko Schönberg Ensemble, and Amsterdam Sinfonietta.

Thomas plays on a Heckel bassoon which he could obtain due to the help of Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument.
